Quote for the day

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

Life

Life versus Stress..

Who wins?

Lately I have been getting a bit down in the dumps. And I know its a result of a lot of things - not being able to find somewhere to live, not exercising enough, cold weather, sick lil lady etc etc... Some times I need a little reminder to look after myself, as do a lot of people I'm sure.
A quick post on some 'stress less' management will make it just a click away when I find myself needing that little reminder...

1. Focus more on things you CAN control

2. Have the courage to be imperfect

3. Take time for yourself

4. Sign up for that course, or join that club

5. Be active! Everyday! In as many ways as you can

6. Spend time with people who make you feel good

7. Laugh out loud each day

8. Invite your neighbour over for a cuppa

9. Do one thing NOW, that you have been putting off

10. Remember, this too shall pass
 (tips from here)

.
.
I found the following and thought it was a great analysis..
It was stolen directly from Kidspot - you can find it here

Stress, the best explanation I have ever come across

A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience,
Raised a glass of water and asked
'How heavy is this glass of water?'
Answers
called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, 'The absolute weight doesn't matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.

In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it,
the heavier it becomes.'

He continued,

'And that's the way it is with stress management.

If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,

As the burden becomes increasingly heavy,

We won't be able to carry on. '

'As with the glass of water,

You have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it
again.

When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.'

'So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work  down
.!

Don't carry it home.

You can pick it up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you're carrying now,

Let them down for a moment if you can.'

So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you
right now.

Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.

Do you think that's a good explanation?

I hope your day is enjoyable.
Keep smiling.

Zucchini Slice - Not a baking fail!

I thought I was a good cook, but lately I've proved to myself I TOTALLY AM NOT!
However after saying this, I did make the following recipe 3 times in a row and it turned out pretty alright! Well everyone ate it - that's a positive right?!

Easy to make, and it fools Charli every time (he he)... She's decided she doesn't need to eat veggies, but she eats this!

Zucchini Slice (for the beginners!)

You need (give or take):
3 zucchinis - grated
1 carrot - grated
1 cup S.R flour
3 rashers bacon (I bought diced bacon from the deli!)
6 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 cups grated cheese (I used about 1/2 cup and still tasted good!)
1 large onion, finely diced
salt and pepper to season

What to do:
Add all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well.
Pour into a well greased (egg sticks otherwise - I found that out the hard way!) tray - 16cm x 26cm lamington tray and bake at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until brown.
Slice into fingers/pieces when cool.
Serve hot or cold!
Enjoy!

5 photos - 5 minute post

5 photos in 5 mins!
Easy...
I'm a sucker for a good quote! Gets me all inspired and motivated to live life to the fullest!!
So some I've saved on my phone lately that need to be shared - mostly from people posting on Facebook or Pinterest (did I mention I love pinterest?!! Follow me!)

I hope they make you smile :)

Look Good, Feel Better

Being sick last week, stuck in bed for a couple of days and just feeling blahhhhh.. Makes me think about how much we take our health for granted. I've been slack on the exercise front (I spent $200+ on some Lorna Jane clothes and am yet to put them to use - I even ordered them online, hmmmmm talk about slack. But hey its hard going shopping with a 15 month old, so that's my excuse! Yep sadly I'm always full of excuses).

I consider myself pretty healthy, exercise regularly (sorta), eat healthy (sorta), don't smoke, drink rarely (post baby habits, not pre baby habits).. But why do I feel so damn lazy at the best of times? I'm always bloody tired, would loveeeee to sleep in past 7am.. Come 2pm I find myself yawning. And I'm such a procrastinator. Is that a normal thing?

Reading up, I found the Look Good, Feel Better wellness program. Have a read, but basically it's aimed at women who are going through chemotherapy or radiation... And what more can I say but W-O-W what a bunch of inspirational people they are. Illness comes in such different forms, but cancer i believe always comes with very strong connotations, it definitely hits a strong note with me. And after reading some of the stories it really does surprise (and impress) me at the positive outlook these people have.
Positivity sure comes a long way don't you think? These people are facing an uphill battle yet they just go about it with such a great outlook.
Really puts your own life into perspective and makes me realise how good I have it - a happy and healthy daughter, loving family and friends, an education and job, and just as importantly - my own health.
Do you sometimes sit back and realise how lucky you are? And think about what you have to be thankful for?

Doesn't it just make your day when a stranger smiles and says hello? It makes my day..

Have you smiled today?!!
Smiling is definitely contagious - share a smile :)

Far from busy

Rainy winter days + a sick little lady = finding something to keep me busy!
I'm so terrible at starting something and not finishing it. I have about 5 projects on the run at the moment... I gotta stick to one and finish it!!
PROCRASTINATOR here I am!
Add it to the to-do-list (with the 100 other things already on there!~)

New book! So many ideas!!
Will post about my creations in a week or so.

Busso has some great op shops! And even a kids shop that sells some pre-loved clothes.

I wish I could find such good buys for myself...
A few finds for Charli. Spring and summer dresses, oh arent they so cute!

Vasse markets

I love markets!!
The Vasse Markets are held on a Saturday morning from about 7am til noon, every fortnight at the Vasse town hall. So a couple of weeks back now, while Charli was making a few good attempts at running away... I tried to get a couple of photos of what the markets have to offer. I'm still yet to get started on reading my book I got from the library - about how to use my SLR off auto mode!! So the iPhone was the 'camera' of choice. For those who have no idea where Vasse is..
It's sorta between Busselton and Dunsborough (South West of Western Australia)..

So whats there???!

Such a great range of fresh local produce, plants, meats, fresh baked cakes and breads. And lots of handmade bits and pieces - clothes, jewelry, scarfs, soaps, knitted rugs and lots more. A few food stalls are about - pancakes, hotdogs, seafood (yummmo!) And inside the hall there's even a little 'cafe' where you can sit and enjoy a tea/coffee/cool drink. A must get to if your heading to busso or margs or around that sorta area for the weekend. Theres markets on in Busso every weekend, but the Vasse ones win hands down!

All they need is a busker!

Not such great pics, but thats all I could manage while holding a wriggly 15 month old child in the other arm!

Starting again

Where do I begin!

Ok..

So my first few posts will be about me figuring out how to use blogger again (from an iPad and iPhone) and making my blog look oh so pretty!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Clare, I'm 26 years old. I am a mother to a cheeky little lady named Charli, who keeps me very busy and always smiling (well almost always - shopping centre tantrums can quickly turn that smile to a frown). I am not completely new to blogging, I’ve been blogging for the past couple of months using Wordpress. But i just don't get the same sense of 'blogging community' (if there is such a thing!) using WordPress. A lot of the blogs I'm enjoying reading/stalking are using blogger.. So I'm decided to get out there and start fresh using blogger! Fingers crossed it works out.  My reasons for blogging come about because i need to find a hobby that works for me... One that, if I don’t get around to doing it everyday (or week) it doesn't matter. I find it hard nowadays even sitting down to read a book, so this can be a hobby that doesn’t cost me a fortune, one I can leave sitting there, and one that doesn’t need high levels of maintenance!

So to begin with...  My blog will be about all the lovely people in my life, the places I go, the things I see, the activities I do and the memories that get created along the way. I look forward to sharing with you all.

Happy reading
Clare x
